A trip to the past - through the cemetery

Happy Halloween!  I don’t normally spend much time thinking about cemeteries, but driving down Fairview Avenue yesterday, I couldn’t help but admire the park-like setting of Cloverdale Cemetery.  It was a perfect fall afternoon with the yellow leaves floating to the ground in perfect peaceful bliss.  I couldn’t tell you anything about that cemetery or [...]

Oooo…That’s spooky!

Ever notice how sometimes the spookiest thing about Halloween can be your very own neighborhood?  Nevermind that crazy old woman who lives down on the corner, you tell your kids…but they have to brave it up to the door anyway.  Once upon a time, I lived in the midwest.  Before I was old enough to trick or [...]

Downtown Gem

Are you looking for a new spot for a fabulous breakfast meeting?  Or maybe just a morning date?  La Vie en Rose http://www.lavieenrosebakery.com/ at 928 W. Main Street is a true gem. I went there recently for a morning breakfast meeting at the recommendation of a business associate and had the eggs benedict.  The meal was FAR MORE than I [...]

Couch Update…

Sorry - I promised an update about the couch and promptly forgot.  The couch arrived in plenty of time, and works well in the space although, now we have a new problem…after moving the piano out into another room, our living room seems to beg for another piece of furniture. In Boise, we are blessed with an abundance of mountain getaway options within a couple hours [...]

What’s wrong with Pleasantville?

When we made the decision to move to a planned community called “Hidden Springs” www.hiddensprings.com just outside Boise a couple years ago, I’ll never forget some of the comments complete strangers made to us…”Oooo…that place is spooky!” and “That place reminds me of Pleasantville or the Stepford Wives.”
I would hardly say it’s either spooky (unless [...]

Good Morning!

I’m just sitting here sipping my morning coffee - which I’ve already re-heated 2 times - anticipating the events of today.
It’s a big day in our house today…the long awaited sectional is to arrive in the next few hours.  We bought our home a year and a half ago and have been limping along with [...]

Coffee

When it comes to a good latte, first preference - hands down - would have to be Rembrandts Coffee House in Eagle, with Moxie Java following at a close second (followed by Tully’s).  If’ I’m in a bind I’ll go to Starbucks, but I feel like I’m feeding the 800 pound gorilla.
Rembrandts www.rembrandtscoffeehouse.net is in an [...]

Hello world!

If you’ve found your way to my blog, WELCOME!  I’m excited to open a dialog about living in Boise.  There are amazing things in this town to do and see.  A search didn’t turn up much for Boise Blogs other than real estate and political.  So, here we are!  If you know of a blog [...]
