Coffee

When it comes to a good latte, first preference - hands down - would have to be Rembrandts Coffee House in Eagle, with Moxie Java following at a close second (followed by Tully’s).  If’ I’m in a bind I’ll go to Starbucks, but I feel like I’m feeding the 800 pound gorilla.

Rembrandts www.rembrandtscoffeehouse.net is in an old church in downtown Eagle.  The owners have done a phenomenal job with the place playing on the original character of the church building. Once you’ve eaten there you’ll want to go back - fast.  The business supports “The Landing Community Center” www.the-landing.org a non-profit in the area.  Beyond the charity, they have an absolutely incredible menu!  I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered.   Make sure you leave room for dessert.  Everything on the menu - except the bread- is made on site.  It’s definately GOURMET!

Moxie Java is now in multiple states across the country, but they started in Boise in the 80s.  The original shop still operates in downtown on Main Street.  What do I like about it?  Local plays big in my book.  I enjoy the coffee and, well, then, there’s the fun name.  They’ve started a bistro concept and I’ve enjoyed soup and sandwiches at the bistros as well.

But, if you’re looking for a good cup of joe straight from your kitchen, the best coffee in town that I’ve found is at Easy Cookin’ www.easycookin.com .  The store is on Overland Road near the Cole Road intersection (by the Outback Steakhouse).  The store carries a brand of coffee called “Neighbors Coffee.”  Our favorites are Grand Reverence (it has coconut flakes in it, but you really can’t taste the coconut - trust me b/c I’m not a coconut fan!), Snickerdoodle, and then there’s another one that is Vanilla Praline (don’t hold me to that name, my brain’s a big fuzzy tonight).

Even better yet, we discovered about 2 or 3 years ago the French Press coffee maker.  We never use our drip anymore.  It takes a little more effort than a drip, but the flavor is definitely worth it! You can get one at the store.

***A warning to the wise - if you are a cooking fanatic, use caution when you go to the store…they have every kitchen gadget and tool you could ever dream of.  They used to be in the Boise Towne Square Mall (upstairs on teh Mervyn’s wing) but moved out a few years ago.***

Enjoy!
