Oooo…That’s spooky!

Ever notice how sometimes the spookiest thing about Halloween can be your very own neighborhood?  Nevermind that crazy old woman who lives down on the corner, you tell your kids…but they have to brave it up to the door anyway.  Once upon a time, I lived in the midwest.  Before I was old enough to trick or treat, my older brothers were hitting the pavement looking angling for a bag brimming full of sweet treats.  I remember my Dad telling a story of one house they went up to and after dropping the candy in their bags the old woman said “I hope that’s okay…we all have disentary in here…”  YIKES!

We happen to have a great trick or treating neighborhood, but it’s painfully obvious to me that there are many who don’t have that blessing.

If that’s you and you’re looking for a safe alternative for your family, you might want to check out a Halloween alternative Harvest Party at New Heights Christian Fellowship www.nhcf.com located at 9950 W. Ustick Road in Boise. It’s a smaller gathering (probably around 100-150 people) than some of the other mega events - which, trust me, is a beautiful thing when you’re trying to keep track of the kids!  The event goes from 6-8 with a chili dinner, children’s games and a trunk or treat which tops off the evening.
