Worth Checking out

Yesterday I was running considerably early to an appointment.  On the rare occasion that happens, I like to take a “scenic” route - meaning driving through parts of town I normally don’t get to.  On my leisurely drive, I happened on a store I’d never seen before that looked like something I might like to [...]

Something a little … different

Something I always look forward to reading in the Idaho Statesman is Jeanne Huff’s Treasure Hunt.  Jeanne visits towns and places in the area and then writes about the little treasures and finds she found on her trip.
This week she did not disappoint. I’ve lived in the Boise area most of my life, and here [...]

Sweep Thanksgiving Under the Rug

We decorated our tree this morning.  It was the culminating event to the completion of all indoor decorations.  The stockings are hung over the fireplace with care.  The rug has been vacuumed and the floor is now bare (i.e. swept).  The only thing left is exterior lights….oh ya, and presents.
This is the Thanksgiving weekend tradition [...]

Where to Ski

It’s been longer than I care to admit since I’ve been up on downhill skis - primarily due to a growing family!  I’m hopeful to get back up this year…  In fact, driving up to Bogus yesterday to get our family Christmas picture taken really made be yearn for that experience again…
Anyway, for you die-hards…or [...]

Why I didn’t go shopping this morning…

According to the Idaho Statesman, 30,000 residents were in line for hours last night waiting to get into the mall…and they rushed in with such force at 1 a.m. that they broke a glass door right off the hinges!
Here’s the story link… http://www.idahostatesman.com/eyepiece/story/218748.html
If you go to KTVB’s website, you’ll find some pretty great photos/video of [...]

A picture-perfect day

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!  I hope you had a wonderful day and that you are sufficiently stuffed with bird.
Among the things I’m thankful for today (not in any particular order)…

Freedom (thanks military guys and gals!)
Family (we have a great one - including the in-laws on both sides )
Humor (I’m not a [...]

Turkey and popcorn, anyone?

Do you think that popcorn was first introduced at the first “thanksgiving” dinner in 1621?  It’s a popular myth that’s become a tradition in many homes. http://www.mayflowerhistory.com/History/thanksgiving.php
Perhaps your among the many who eat your turkey dinner with all the fixin’s and then, it’s time for the main event…  Popcorn (and a movie - or football!).
Well, just [...]
