Horsing around!
I got a call from my good friend Julie, today inviting me and my family to an event at her family’s business this weekend. After she had me fully convinced that we need to go, I realized that I’ll be out of town at a scrap-booking event in the mountains! DAR!!!! So, I’m passing along the good news. Below is a news release she sent me (subsequent to our phone call) about the event. If you love horses, you will want to go. If you have kids who love animals, you will want to go. She had me sold 100% when she told me they’ll have a zebra and a camel there! (NO JOKE!!)
So, get out there and help Flynn’s Saddle shop celebrate 50 years!!! Congratulations Julie and Todd!
News release:
Boise- - Fifty years ago, Jim Flynn started selling to the horse community out of the back of his truck and trailer. If he were alive today, he wouldn’t know what had hit him or this valley. The equestrian community has exploded and so has the humble business he once started.
On Saturday, March 15th, Flynn’s Saddle Shop starts writing a fresh chapter in the history of this long-time Boise fixture… with the grand opening celebration of it’s new 12 thousand square foot superstore.
“We plan on having something for everyone,” said Flynn’s co-owner, Julie Johnson. “Whether you own horses, cats, dogs or birds, or just enjoy spending time with others who share your same interest, we expect that you’ll feel at home in our new home.”
Saturday’s grand opening festivities go from 9a.m. to 7p.m. There will be all kinds of drawings and give-a-ways (from a 50 inch flat screen TV to Brighton jewelry, Dansko shoes and a free year supply of dog food and horse feed). Of course the store will have special pricing and sales on many items, as well as feed, saddle and tack experts from top manufactures.
“We want to be good to the community that has been so good to us. We hope folks come down and bring their families,” said Johnson.
For the children, Flynn’s has set up a number of carnival-type games, Breyer horse painting, face painting and a chance to get up close and personal with a camel and a zebra all free of charge.
Free sandwiches, hot dogs and drinks will be provided by the Wheat Montana Bakery and Flynn’s Saddle Shop. The public is invited to come and look at the historical photographs of Flynn’s early beginnings and compare them to the store today.

Good catch! They are on State Street just west of the Wal-mart (before you get to Highway 55). They are on the south side of State.
