To scrap it…or not…
So, if you’ve wondered why I’ve been strangely absent the past few days (ya, right…), I must say I have a great excuse! I went to Cascade for the weekend! (For you newbies to the area, it’s about an hour and a half north of Boise in a beautiful mountain setting near Tamarack Resort.) It was gorgeous…blue skies…fresh, crisp air…a beautiful mantle of snow on the ground (that I could leave behind!)…perfect winter mountain weather! What was I doing to enjoy it? Skiing? Snow shoeing? Cross Country Skiing? Snow mobiling?
Nothing of the sort!
Would you believe I stayed inside? Yep, almost the entire weekend - with a window to my back! You see, I was on a mission. For the past 5 years, I’ve wanted to go on this scrap-booking weekend. (Rolling your eyes yet?) For one reason or another I could never go. Until now.
The goal? To get as much of my youngest child’s 1st year album done as I could. Would you believe 77 pages later I have only “two weeks” worth of photos left to put in the album? And a little journaling, too. Then I’m DONE! I was absolutely floored. I weeded through some 400+ photos over a 2 day period. I was truly amazed!
So, where did we stay? Well, there were about 45 of us up at the Ashley Inn. I shared a room with 3 other friends from my church. It was really a lovely place. A bit flowery and lacey for my taste, but that’s their theme…Victorian…so it really fit. About the only complaint I had was that they made really lousy coffee (barely flavored water). They do however, have coffee pots in the rooms which do make decent coffee, so make it there - or run down the road to Moxie and get a big cup there. The breakfast spread was impressive - waffles, yogurt, some kind of scrambled egg souffle, cottage cheese, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, and more. They also have fabulous cookies at 8pm. (they would go really well with a great cup of coffee…)
Would I stay there again? Definitely if I was splitting the room 4 ways like we did this weekend. Otherwise, it seemed a bit spendy (our room, for 4 people would normally be $174 we were told - fortunately for us, we had a big group discount which helped). On the other-hand, it’s nice, well maintained and offers a (rather small) indoor pool, hot tub, and some other amenities in warmer weather. It would be a very nice place for a conference or wedding reception, and the mountain setting of course is beautiful.

I just found you blog, and I have to tell you that…
I LOVE The Ashley Inn!!! Minus the flowers and junk. We go there every year for our churches Women’s Retreat. It is a little ‘girly’ for my taste, but I will have to say when you have a group of friend to spend the weekend with, no one is looking at the walls.
Now I am craving an omlet and a fresh waffle…. and a warm cookie before bed. Mmmmm.
