Bowling for everyone!

When I was in my freshmen year of college at Uof I, I sang with a group called the “Vandaleers.”  It was a phenomenal year to be part of that group because we were invited to sing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall and also sang at the Kennedy Center in D.C. Anyway, that’s totally beside the point, and  I know you are wondering what on earth this has to do with BOWLING!  Well, I had a friend from Vandaleers who made up a jingle about bowling.  It’s not the same without you being able to hear the tune, but the primary line was:

“Bowling, Bowling, Bowling, Bowling, Bowling for everyone!” And it repeated over and over and over.  If there were more lyrics I certainly couldn’t tell you what they were.  But anytime someone mentions bowling, that’s the tune that pops in my head.  (thanks, Lance!)

Anyway, I received this news from Boise Parks and Rec - about Bowling for the Zoo, specifically to raise $$ for endangered Rhinos.  So, if you love bowling, and have a penchant for rhinos, this might be a great fit for you if you’re looking for something to do.  Here’s the release:

Join Zoo Boise for a fun afternoon of bowling Saturday, April 12, while raising money to help save endangered rhinos. Bowling runs from 3-7 p.m. at the Meridian Lanes, 324 S. Meridian Road. Check-in begins at 2 p.m.

The cost is $50 for teams of four or $15 for individuals, which includes two games of bowling, shoe rental and free raffle ticket.

Each team is required to raise at least $100 in pledges ($25 per individual), payable on the day of the event.  Pledge forms will be distributed at time of registration. Prizes will be awarded for those who raise the most money, highest score and more!

Bowling for Rhinos is a national bowl-a-thon sponsored by the American Association of Zoo Keepers and Blue Rhino.  The event helps preserve Black and White rhinos in Africa and the Javan and Sumatran rhinos in Indonesia. One hundred percent of all proceeds are sent directly to organizations conserving four species of rhino, their habitats, and hundreds of other endangered plants and animals.
