BUT, here’s the short version of things that I’m putting on my calendar…time willing!

2. Ketchum Wagon Days Celebration.  August 29-Sept. 1.  Where’s Ketchum?  Think Sun Valley!  Hailey makes a great spot to stay if you want to be a little outside of the fray and get some exercise on your bike…you can bike the wood river trail over from Hailey to Ketchum (and beyond!)  There’s a parad, old west shoot out among other fun stuff for the whole family.  Visit for more info:  www.wagondays.com(oh, and be sure to eat at Christinas of Sun Valley while you’re there…one of my vary favorite restaurants!!! YUM!!!)

3.  Three Island Crossing Reenactment.  August 8-10 in Glenns Ferry (west of Boise)  This is a great opportunity to teach your kids some history of the area, in addition to partaking in normal festival fair.  Check it out at www.glenssferryidaho.org.

4. Caldwell Night Rodeo:  August 12-15 at the Caldwell Night Rodeo Grounds (2301 Blaine Street).  I haven’t been to this in years, but it’s a blast and fun for the entire family!  Visit http://www.caldwellnightrodeo.com/ for more info!

5. Bug Day at the Idaho Botanical Gardens.  August 23.  Just what it sounds like…if you have a kiddo that’s really into bugs, don’t miss this!!! http://www.idahobotanicalgarden.org/

6.  Tour de Fat August 23.  Ann Morrison Park.  This is not so much of a bicycle race as it is pedaling fun (with beer).  Check it out at www.newbelgium.com.

7. McCall classic Boat Show August 15-17.  Payette Lake (McCall)  Includes a boat parade with classic boats! www.payetteclassicboats.com.

8.  True West Cinema Festival.  August 7-10.  The Flicks theater located at 646 Fulton St. in Boise.  You can get passes for the entire film festival or films a la carte.  www.truewestcinema.org.

9. Harmonica Festival in Yellow Pine.  August 1-3.  Great opportunity for music and camping with lots to do!  visit  www.harmonicacontest.com.

And, don’t forget Starlight Mountain Theater in Garden Valley (Oklahoma! and Cinderella); Idaho Shakespeare Festival; or Opera Idaho.  And then there’s lots of hiking in the mountains (try Ponderosa State Park near McCall or various trails in and around Redfish Lake to get you started!), river rafting fun on the Boise and Payette Rivers, Cycling on the Boise Greenbelt or the Sun Valley Area’s Wood River Trail, and Strolling through Downtown Boise and Downtown Eagle on Saturday mornings for the market!
