About
I grew up in the Boise area and promptly moved away after high school. I was ready for a change and thought the valley was “boring.” In the nearly 10 years I was away, the city exploded and “grew up.” So did I.
Now, I live in Hidden Springs, Idaho - a planned community NW of the city limits - with my husband and children. I keep an office in my home and work in the public relations industry. I make every attempt possible to be “super mom” although I don’t always succeed.
I decided to start this blog because I finally decided it was time for me to enter this century. I chose the topic of what it’s like to live in Boise and what I like about it, because it’s what I know. I also wanted to do something nobody else was, and couldn’t find any blog committed to that specific topic.
So, here I am. I’m blogging about the area, sharing with you my thoughts, experiences and ideas. This is my personal blog. I don’t accept money for entries, and I only blog about things that I think are interesting or I’ve experienced first hand.
Because I work in the public relations industry, I feel it necessary to tell you that I’m doing my best NOT to blog about any of my clients, but will let you know when there’s a personal connection in the effort of complete transparency. And, in the event that were to ever happen, rest assured there would not be compensation of any kind for the entry. If I’ve ever blogged about a company that later becomes a client, I’ll let you know that too with an editoral note on that particular entry.
I hope to foster a lively discussion, however I’ll warn you that if you want to comment just to belly-ache, save it for another blog. This should be a place to be inspired, get the scoop and discover all things that make the Boise area - and Idaho - such an incredible place to live.
Please feel free to share your experiences, ideas and great local finds! Your participation is what will make this blog extra valuable to everyone who visits!
Cheerio!
Sincerely,
The Goodlife Gal

Hello Gal,
Don’t forget to include NewWest.Net/Boise in your posts…especially our Snowblog….
I love Hidden Springs. When it was founded, I was hired to do the first Harvest Festival (which was out in the old barn - much nicer there) and to help think up and design and merchandise and open the Merc. I was its first manager, way back in the day….

Hey, Goodlife Gal, I wasn’t sure how to contact you directly, hence the public comment, but wanted to make sure you got an invite to next week’s Boise Blogger Meetup. Hope you can make it!

It’s true about the Coolest Places on Ice. Granted I work for Boise Parks & Recreation so I’m biased, but IceWorld is one of the nicest skating facilities in the Intermountain West. My son plays hockey and I’ve seen a bunch of ‘em.
Good Life Gal, would you like me to send you press releases? Or would you prefer to check our website?

Hello,
I am sure you’re busy, but we’re planning a trip to Boise from Portland, OR over Memorial Day weekend (we’ve never been) and would greatly appreciate any insight you have as to things to do, places to see, eat, etc. while we’re there. Thank you for sharing your city with us!

Hi Natalie,
Thanks for stopping by! I actually just got home from your fair city last night!
In addition to the things to do already listed here (check out the “things to do” category under the topics bar on the right side of the page), I’ll start looking for some stuff in the coming week or two specifically for Memorial Day weekend and post them soon. What kinds of things do you like to do? Do you have kids? Do you have a more active lifestyle? That’ll help with some recommendations.
Happy travels!

Hi Gal,
This is a stab in the dark . . but here goes.
In January 2009 Boise is hosting the Special Olympics World Winter Games. Our special daughter has been chosen in the New Zealand team as a skier and Jane, my wife and I are going to travel to Boise to watch and support her and the team.
We have waded through the myriads of vacation home swap sites . . . and wasted some money, with out any success. We have what we think is a lovely home on the shores of Auckland Harbor close to the city and we want to contact a family or couple who might like to have a summer holiday in our little corner of the world.
Could you direct us to a community notice board or website that we could advertise on. Or any other suggestions you might have for inexpensive accommodation.
Anything information that may be of use would be appreciated.
Kind regards Grant

Hello Grant,
Thanks for stopping by. What an interesting question! You might try the Boise forum on Facebook. Other than that I’m unaware. We’ll post it here, however and see if there’s anyone who might have an interest!
Best regards!
