An April Snow

The original plan was to post this yesterday, but alas, I was unable to find the wire to download the photo until this morning…
A couple years ago when we got 5 inches in mid-March, I thought it was unbelieveable.  But snow in April?  Come on!

To scrap it…or not…

So, if you’ve wondered why I’ve been strangely absent the past few days (ya, right…), I must say I have a great excuse!  I went to Cascade for the weekend!  (For you newbies to the area, it’s about an hour and a half north of Boise in a beautiful mountain setting near Tamarack Resort.) It [...]

It’s snowing again…

In case you work in an office w/o windows (been there, done that, so I get it…), it’s snowing again outside…  But, relax if you’re done with the white stuff.  It should melt fast - not even sticking to the roads.
On the other-hand, it might be one of your last (hoping?) opportunities to find a [...]

If you think you’re getting too old, drive up the mountain.

Tubing Hill (click for photo)
My husband and I took the afternoon off on Friday and together with some friends and kids went up to the Bogus tubing hill.  It was a bit daunting the first run down the mountain….especially going backwards.  I realized suddenly at the foot of the hill that this was perhaps one of the [...]

So…what’s the deal with SNOW?

I just have to ask the question…  Why do we get all excited about snow in December, as though it has some magical power to make everything right and bring peace on earth…and then curse it in January (theoretically wiping away all that peace we had in December)?
Ah, yes, welcome to the dog-days of winter!  And, welcome [...]

What are you doing this weekend?

I have a feeling that some of you would like to know what others are planning on doing this weekend, so I just want to encourage all of you reading this to post about what YOU are doing this weekend.  Your ideas may inspire others!
But for those of you who come here looking for stuff to [...]

An old-fashioned winter day…

What a fabulous snow day!  This is the kind of day that really reminds me of my childhood…  It’s true. 30-some-odd years ago, this kind of snow was typical!  As I type I’m enjoying watching children across the street sled down the hill…in the middle of an almost-near-blizzard (translation:  it’s snowing HARD!).  When I was [...]

WINDED!

Some people get winded by the thought of skiing…but today, Bogus Basin got “winded,” and has closed down for the rest of the day.  High winds have made conditions dangerous for skiers.  So, if you were planning to get in an afternoon ski, make other plans!

Sledding Suggestions?!?!?!

Okay, folks!  Let’s put it all out on the table!  Where are your favorite sledding spots in and around Boise?  I’ve had lots of people stumble over to the Boise Goodlife blog lately looking for sledding, and Jamie lit a fire under my backside tonight with her plea for help (see her comment under the [...]

IN SEARCH OF AN IMAGINATION!

It’s the stuff memories are made of.  You know the kind…the ones that make your family the envy of all the other kids in the neighborhood!  A word of caution, these kinds of outings can also be fodder for family jokes and embarrassment for years to come!  LOL!
Here are a few ideas if you are [...]
